writing for thought

I have noticed that I really get into my stride when writing about some challenging situation that is going on within/around me. But the truth is,  lately I have been working on being happy no matter what the circumstances,  only to find that I’m not greatly inspired to write. Quite a conundrum as I would like to pursue my writing. To get out of this challenge, I thought it best to just start writing. So here I am. Whether my writings have the power and emotion that I felt with the others, I am not sure. They say if you feel blocked the answer is to write, write about anything, and that should release the words.

I make it my practise to choose my words carefully.  I know how powerful they can be, especially if  choosen for harm. Early on in my life, I was very conscious of word power so I’ve tried to be deliberate in using them. I am not even sure if word power is a phrase but it seems to fit my explanation. We all know that once the words come out of our mouths, they are at liberty to destroy or uplift. Yes, we know but do we keep this word power in our awareness? Or do we believe that we have somehow earned the right to say what we like? I am not against one speaking their truth but those words should be chosen as carefully as the ingredients to your favourite recipe.

I am fully aware that the older you get, the easier it is for words to “slip out”. It’s like they have a mind of their own and you are just the instrument.  Nevertheless, to practise kind, loving thoughts should limit the times our words come out to harm.

I feel like I am rambling so I shall end here with one last thing: Remember that recipe.
